Social media has changed the way we consume content. Almost every industry relies heavily on social media for its growth and the tourism industry is no exception. Regional tourism in Rajasthan is seeing steady growth and social media has emerged as a large contributing factor.Social sharing is something that significantly affects the tourism industry. On social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter, the young and the tech-savvy population of the country posts memories and experiences of their travels, in the form of photos and videos.

Many times, for example, a group of young travellers take a long road trip to the outskirts of the city and find a deserted monument or lake in a hidden corner. Such travel experiences and their availability on the social media feeds of people attract other people to make travel plans. Recently, Manwar in the heart of the Thar Desert in Rajasthan is becoming a popular tourist spot in the state. This happened after a few travel groups shared their experience in the Manwar Desert camp on the social media platform Instagram. Similarly, Mandawa and Osian in Rajasthan are also other regional places where tourism has increased greatly in the past few years.

On social media, regional tourism is efficiently boosted on all platforms. Instagram and Facebook are more suited for pictures and lengthy videos and travel vlogs while Twitter can be used to talk about brief travel tips and tricks.Apart from all of this, the tourism industry also benefits from social media in the sense that more and more travel agencies have great customer engagement and communication. It is to be noted that in today's time, the regional tourism industry cannot rely solely on traditional methods of promotion like billboards and pamphlets. Having a social media presence, positive user feedback and social shares is the way to go.
