Farmers need not panic about shrivelled grain, Punjab Government to always stand by farming community : Bram Shankar Jimpa

Cabinet Minister commences procurement of Wheat in Dana Mandi Hoshiarpur, 11585 LMT wheat procured in District mandis so far, Payments made to tune of Rs. 4.09 crore

The Cabinet Minister Mr. Bram Shankar Jimpa today launched the procurement of wheat at Dana Mandi here from the stack of farmer Mangal Singh (Village Patti) and assured that the Punjab Government led by the Chief Minister Mr. Bhagwant Singh Mann won't let the farmers encounter any difficulty in the mandis. He also said that this time the farmers were a bit concerned about the shrivelled grain of wheat but they need not panic as the State Government stands shoulder to shoulder with them at this hour with the commitment to resolve any issue they might face.

Accompanied by the Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Sandeep Singh, SDM Shivraj Singh Bal and the other officers, the Minister also interacted with the farmers and got their feedback regarding the arrangements made by the administration in the mandis. He also inspected the wheat crop at various stacks and directed all the officers as well as the procurement agencies to ensure that the farmers don't face any problem. 

Divulging further, the Cabinet Minister said that the procurement is taking place in 64 mandis of the district with adequate arrangements made with regard to drinking water, shelter and other facilities for the benefit of the farmers. 

He further added that this time, as much as 3,75,687 MT of Wheat is expected to arrive in the mandis with robust arrangements put in place for the procurement and lifting. Till Friday evening, 11585 MT wheat has been procured and payment to the tune of Rs. 4.09 crore has been made. The Bardana is also available in adequate number in the mandis hence there is no cause for worry on the part of the farmers and arhtiyas.
