There have been at present a number of such great Punjabi singers who have offered such lovely songs to the nation. There are some such songs that people do remember even today after years. Kuldeep Manak

In the late 1970s and early 1980s, Kuldeep Manak was designated as the best Punjabi Singer in the world. The love for music started to blossom inside Kuldeep from a very young age. He has mentioned that his mentor always influenced him to perform on stage with courage and confidence. Some of his best works include “Gadeya Millade Sohne Yaar”, “Tere tille Ton, “Dulleya ve Tokra” and many more.  Moreover, he became the king of “Kaliyan” in the early stage of his career.

Gurdas Maan

One of the most consistent singers in the last 20 years and hence is known as the Prince of Punjabi Music is Gurdas Maan. Many new singers get inspiration from Maan and try to copy his style. He has a record of over 27 albums and of writing more than 200 songs. Reportedly, it is also said that the way he used to sing is simply unmatched and cannot be compared with anyone else. One of the best albums was ‘Dil Da Mamla Hai’ in 1981 which was also his debut album. Apart from this, there were a number of other albums also such as ‘Heer’ and ‘Boot Polishan’. Fans are still crazy about his songs and surely listen to them on loop.

Chamkila

Amar Singh Chamkila who was popular by the name Chamkila is not only a legend but also known as the Michael Jackson of the Punjabi music industry. Some of his songs that became the folk icons were “Lak Mera Kach Warga” and “Hikk Utte So Ja Ve”. He changed the way emotional songs can be sung and gave a new style with his release “Kadha Soorma.” Ultimately, Chamkila who rose the fame with his amazing vocal skills and outstanding songs could have become the topmost singer of all time but was interrupted by his sudden death in the year 1988.

Sardoool Sikander

Late legendary singer Sardool Sikander is synonymous with folk and pop. He started his career in radio and television where he released his first album “Roadways Di Laari”. The artist has to struggle a lot during his initial days. But they say, ‘if you have the talent success will surely come your way’. Sardoool proved it and became the household name in a very less time. Some of his best works are Red Alert, Shareek, Mera Valeti, Paranda and many more. Speaking of his career achievements then in 1911, his album named “Husna De Malki” sold about 5 million copies around the world.

Babbu Maan

Babbu Mann who is a well-known Punjabi singer, songwriter, actor and film producer was born on 18 March 1975 in Khant Maanpur, Punjab. He made his musical debut in the Punjabi industry with the album ‘Sajan Rumal De Geya’. Though it was not much success at that time, when he came out with the song ‘Saaun Di Jhadi’ in 2001, Babbu was recognized as a music sensation overnight. From 2001 to 2003 he has sung and released many hit songs like Ishq, Dil Ta Pagal Hai, and Kabza. His most recent hit songs are Murgi and Tralla.Hence, these artists deserved a special place in our hearts. Though some of them are not with us, they have marked their place in the hearts of their listeners and the whole nation.
