'Dupes suspended Patwari of Rs 75K for reinstatement'

Police has registered a cheating case against Srinagar District Development Council member Qaiser Ahmad for duping a suspended Patwari of Rs 75,000, assuring him of reinstatement.The fraud came fore after the aggrieved Patwari submitted a written application in the office of Deputy Commissioner Srinagar wherefrom it forwarded to concerned Police Station for action under law.The Police Station Zakoora has taken the cognizance of compliant and registered FIR no. 18/22 against DDC member for cheating.  In his compliant, the aggrieved has stated that he was put under suspended by district administration.“In the meantime I came across with Qaiser Ahmad Ganie, DDC member, Khimber who gave me assurance for my reinstatement and convenient posting subject to paying an amount of Rs 75000,” reads the complaint.

It added that the aggrieved paid an amount as demanded by DDC member to his account.“Due suspension I was agonized as I have large family to feed and was left with no option other than to transfer the demanded amount which was immature/insane on my part. As such, it is requested to kindly initiate necessary action in the matter,” he reads.A Police Official also confirmed the registration of FIR but said that accused has not been arrested yet, adding, “Section 420 IPC (cheating) is a cognizable and non-bailable offence and accused will be nabbed shortly.”When contacted DDC Chairman Malik Aftab said that he has always been vocal against corrupt practices. “The law will take its own course and justice will be delivered,” he said while replying to a query.
