DC Kishtwar reviews vaccination of children ahead of re-opening of schools

District Development Commissioner Kishtwar Ashok Kumar Sharma today chaired a meeting of Education and Health Department to review the vaccination of school staff and students in the 15 to 18 year age group and arrangements made for the reopening of schools in the district after a long gap of covid restrictions and winter vacations.The meeting was attended by Additional District Development Commissioner, Sham Lal; Chief Education Officer, Prahlad Bhagat; District Immunisation Officer, Dr Chander Kumar,  BMOs, ZEOs,  besides Heads of Government and private Educational Institutions.At the outset, the Deputy Commissioner reviewed the status of vaccination of age appropriate students and staff of the schools.He directed the Head of the educational institutions to work in synergy with health authorities to complete the vaccination of left out students before re-opening of the school.

To ensure the safety of students, the Deputy Commissioner directed Chief Education Officer Kishtwar to ensure the cleanliness, 50% in person capacity in classes, proper Sanitation and social distancing in the schools.All the heads of the educational institutions were asked to ensure that only vaccinated students and staff be  allowed to attend  the classes.Concerned Tehsildars and health field functionaries were directed to monitor the vaccination and following of CAB in the schools in the areas under their jurisdiction.“The holding of physical classes after a long gap may witness an initial inertia which needs to be broken and heads of institutions have to play a proactive role in this regard” he said. He stressed the HOIs to regulate the class strength and CAB in the classes so that safety of the student is not compromised.He said that the administration will ensure an enabling environment for schools to move towards reopening amid flexible & staggered timings for students with the help of school education authorities.
