District Electoral Officer & SSP conduct checking of Inter State checkpoints

Boosting morale directed police, excise duty and para military personnel deployed on checkpoints to be vigil in performing duty

The Deputy Commissioner cum District Electoral Officer Apneet Riyait and SSP Dhruman H. Nimbale today conducted joint checking of all the interstate checkpoints in the district and reviewed the situation. While boosting the morale of the deployed police, para military personnel and the excise department teams, both the DC and the SSP also directed them to be vigil during the course of performing their duty. They visited Jaijon and Mahindwani checkpoints.The Deputy Commissioner and the SSP said that apart from the deployment of the police and the para military in the entire district for smooth and transparent conduct of the polls, flying squad, statical surveillance as well as excise department teams (To curb the transportation of the illicit liquor) are also working hard day and night. They further stated that 45 flying squad teams have been deputed in all the 7 assembly constituencies falling in the District to ensure compliance with the Model Code of Conduct. The said teams are working 24 hours.

Divulging further, the Deputy Commissioner and the SSP said that 12 interstate checkpoints have been jointly set up in the district by the police and the para military forces. They also said that recovery worth more than Rs. 40 lakh has been made at these checkpoints so far and 3092 quintal Lahan has also been recovered and destroyed. During 28 and 29 January, raids were carried out in the areas adjoining the Himachal Pradesh with the assistance of the Himachal police and also in the Mand area alongside the river Beas by the State police with the help of the Excise Department joint team. During these raids, 1,46,640 Kg Lahan was recovered and destroyed with case registered against the 11 accused. From the 8th January till date, the excise department teams have recovered 246 bottles of country made and 1557 bottles of foreign and 86 Litre illicit liquor.
