Radha Mohan Singh Holds Detailed Discussions on Farm Insurance and Livestock Development

Agriculture Minister, Radha Mohan Singh today reviewed schemes relating to farm insurance with Agriculture Secretary and other senior officers. In particular, the Minister took stock of the infirmities of present agricultural insurance schemes and explored how a more farmer-friendly farm insurance scheme could be devised. The Minister is also meeting the Home Minister, Shri Raj Nath Singh, to discuss ways to benefit farmers and to find out the salient features of Krishi Amdani Bima Yojana, a scheme that was launched when Shri Raj Nath Singh was Agriculture Minister. Shri Radha Mohan Singh also held detailed discussions with Secretary, Department of Animal Husbandry, Dairying and Fisheries and other concerned officers on initiating a programme for development of livestock. In this context, the National Livestock Policy 2013 also came up for discussion.
