AIP asks Omar to call emergency session of Legislative Assembly

Awami Ittihad Party (AIP) President and MLA Langate Engineer Rashid has termed the revelations made by BJP Leader and Minister in Union Cabinet Jitendhar Singh to abrogate Article 370 as failure of mainstream parties and urged the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to convene an emergency session of Assembly and pass the Autonomy resolution seeking restoration of all the original provisions including that of President and Prime Minister of our state in order to send a tough message to Central Government’s aggressive anti- Kashmir overtures.While addressing a crowded press conference in Srinagar, Engineer Rashid observed that PDP’and NC’s selfish polity based on showing green pastures to browbeaten masses has been exposed. “It is not the question what will happen to article 370 but the very abrogation talk of it by Jitendhar Singh and others on the very first day of the Modi’s Government assuming office is a tight slap on NC and PDP. While PDP was exploiting Kashmiris with the hallow slogan of Self –Rule and NC with that of autonomy, now worth and real face of both these so called regional parties stands exposed. NC despite being coalition partner in UPA for 10 years did nothing to restore autonomy as a result anti-Kashmir voices got daring and PDP too had built dream castles with Modi which have proven to be a big façade. Now both NC and PDP are begging for not to abrogate already diluted, weakened and violated article 370 which clearly suggests that Autonomy and Self rule are hollow slogans meant to mislead masses.”
“Although autonomy is not the final solution of the Kashmir Dispute but considering the present harsh atmosphere passing this resolution would give required message and sending a tough message is need of hour,” expressed Engineer Rashid.He further added that Kashmiris never expected a day would come when India instead of giving the snatched rights will talk of eschewing more rights and liberties of Kashmir and beat around bush instead of talking on core issue. Dr. Jatindher Singh’s threat is a wakeup call for Kashmiris to unite and demand the implementation of UN Resolutions in unison and this is the only way to break the ego of India and to bring it on track for a durable and peaceful settlement of Kashmir Dispute.
Engineer Rashid called on NC to walk the talk and convene one day Assembly session to deliver the required message rather than humiliating itself by taking to streets as it should not have any problem in passing any tough resolution.
“On one hand the pro-freedom leadership is castigating those who voted but keeping mum how Pakistani premier Nawaz Sharif and his colleagues were present in the oath taking ceremony and clapping which also included the parliamentarians from the area considered disputed ( Jammu & Kashmir). When a Kashmiri is labeled as traitor for voting what about when Nawaz Sharif and his colleagues offered standing ovation when Jitendhar Singh and other parliamentarians from Disputed J &K took oath,” Questioned Engineer Rashid and added that if entire Jammu & Kashmir is disputed why should not Pakistan and Pro-freedom leaders treat Jitendhar Singh the same way as they treat mainstream leadership.
Engineer Rashid further added - “Omar proved too much conscienceless that before Parliamentary Polls he was talking of running to Pakistan in case Modi is elected PM of India but disgustingly enough was sitting in the front rows when Modi was taking oath as Prime Minister of India. The least he could have done was to boycott oath ceremony like Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalitha and so should have done PDP”“NC is taking the politics to new low by congratulating Omar Abdullah for scrapping Job Policy and SMS ban while as these steps were taken by Omar only making it look hilarious that accused is acting as Judge. May Omar Abdullah explain how overnight the security scenario had changed the same which was shown pretext for SMS ban few years back and how come the lifting of ban became a state subject as he was always giving excuses that lifting ban is central domain. Such measures will never help NC unless it doesn’t try to address the real aspiration of people of Kashmir,” added Engineer Rashid.
