Sukhbir Singh Badal, Deputy Chief Minister, Punjab, who is also president of Shiromani Akali Dal today declared that National Democratic Alliance is all set to sweep the ensuing Lok Sabha polls and ensure freedom of country from the clutches of corrupt Congress Party.Talking to media persons after laying the foundation stone of Rs. 24 crore new state-of-the-art building of Municipal Corporation Amritsar here today, Mr. Badal said that writing on the wall was clear that anti-Congress wave was sweeping all over the country as people were itching to push most corrupt Congress Party in the pages of history. He said that it is a hard fact that NDA would form next Government in the center and rubbished all talk of third front as an imaginary exercise. When asked about likely elevation of Mr. Narendra Modi as next Prime Minister, Mr. Badal pointed out that Shiromani Akali Dal as a responsible constituent of NDA had always maintained that we would go with the NDA as far as the choice of PM was concerned. He described the so called different with JD (U) as internal matter of NDA and said that NDA would unitedly fight these elections with the singular aim to defeat Congress Party. 

Badal declared that Delhi Unit of Shiromani Akali Dal was fully geared up for Vidhan Sabha elections in Delhi and these elections would be fought in alliance with its traditional partner BJP. On the question of seats, Mr. Badal said that we have not yet talked on this issue and these issues would be mutually worked out. Mr. Badal congratulated the Sikhs of National Capital for ousting Sarna’s, who were acting as proxy group of Congress Party, from the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee and said that these elections were trailer for Delhi Vidhan Sabha elections. He said that DSGMC has already initiated series of measure to promote Sikhism by providing free education to baptized Sikhs in schools run by it. Similarly, many measures free treatment to baptized Sikhs in hospitals were in offing. 

 When asked about Panchayats Elections scheduled for July 3, Mr. Badal said that our cadre was always ready to fight the elections. He said that it was PPCC Chief Mr. Partap Singh Bajwa that was running away from the electoral battle. He said that after suffering humiliating defeat, even in his own constituency, Mr. Bajwa was knocking at the door of Punjab and Haryana High Court to scuttle these elections in order to save his presidency. He clarified that these Panchayats elections were always fought on local issues and SAD would not fight these elections on its symbol.

Mr. Badal described proposed Food Bill of UPA Government as Election Bill that was being brought to befool the public on the eve of Lok Sabha elections. He said that Punjab has already implemented the Food Bill since last six years with Atta-Dal scheme by providing 35 kg Atta at Rs. 4 per kg and 4 kg of pulses at Rs. 20 per kg to more than 16 lakh families without any break. He said that UPA has tried to copy the Atta-Dal scheme of Punjab terming it as a ‘Sonia’s Idea’ without giving its credit to Mr. Parkash Singh Badal, who was instrumental of this scheme to give relief to poor people from unprecedented hike in the prices of food items during corrupt rule of UPA Government.  

Answering a query regarding swapping of Amritsar seat with BJP, Mr. Badal said that there was no such proposal and termed it as media creation. On being asked about the Central teams send by UPA to investigate ‘Book Scam’, Mr. Badal said that our Government was always ready with any kind of probe and Congress Party was pressuring the Union Government to misuse their authority by sending the team. He said that our Government has nothing to hide and Congress cannot survive on the temporary dose of media coverage on these issues.   

The Deputy Chief Minister also informed that construction of New Municipal Complex would have 10000 Sq meter cover area and it would have basement, ground and three storey structure. The complex to be constructed on a piece of 2 acres of land at the cost of Rs. 24 crore would have state-of-the-art facilities and it was designed by architects of GNDU.

Prominent amongst those were present in the press conference included Mr. Chuni Lal Bhagat, Local Bodies Minister, Mr. Sarwan Singh Phillaur, Tourism and Jails Minister, Mr. Inderbir Singh Bolaria, Chief Parliamentary Secretary, Mayor Bakshi Ram Arora, Mr. Tarun Chugh, BJP leader and  councillors of Amritsar Municipal Corporation.
