Deputy Chief Minister visits district hospital Mohali, review arrangements

Specifically checked dengue ward; Instructs proper sanitation in hospital premises

Deputy Chief Minister O.P. Soni, who also holds the charge of Health Minister, on Wednesday visited the Civil Hospital Phase-6 to assess the ground realities and enquired about the facilities being given to patients.During his visit, Mr. Soni specifically visited Dengue ward which has been strengthened from 50 to 80 ward in view of surging the numbers of patients and interacted with the patients to enquire about the arrangements and medicine availability. He said that a special 80 bedded ward has been set up on the third floor of the hospital for the confirmed and suspected dengue patients where they are getting free of cost treatment. In addition the number of beds with mosquito nets has been increased. In view of the increasing number of patients in the emergency ward, he directed to deploy more doctors and nurses and make proper sanitation arrangements.

The Deputy Chief Minister said that any shortcoming in this regard would not be tolerated at any cost and better and quality health care facilities would be provided to the patients. He directed that if the proper sanitation was not ensured then strict action would be taken against the official incharge. During his itinerary, Mr. Soni also visited the medicine stock room and enquired about the available stock of medicines. He also appealed to the people to take all necessary precautions to prevent dengue fever and not to allow standing water anywhere in and around their homes. Civil Surgeon Dr. Adarshpal Kaur and other officers were also present on the occasion.
