Vigilance Nabs Powercom SDO & Clerk In Bribery Case

State Vigilance Bureau during its ongoing drive against rampant corruption today nabbed SDO and his clerk red handed accepting bribe.Disclosing this here today, Mr. Sursh Arora, Chief Director-cum-DGP Vigilance Bureau Punjab said that Bureau caught Siri Ram SDO POWERCOM posted at village Lasoi Tehsil Malerkotla in district Sangrur along with consumer clerk Bhag Singh demanding and accepting bribe of Rs. 10,000 and Rs. 500 respectively from complainant Baljinder Kaur of District Fatehgarh Sahib for enhancing consumer load of her tubewell connection.

He added that the complainant approached the Bureau and alleged that SDO and his clerk was demanding bribe from her for enhancing consumer load of her tubewell connection. After finding the veracity of facts a vigilance team led by Mr Gurcharn Singh Inspector Vigilance Bureau Sangrur laid a trap and the both accused were nabbed red handed in the presence of two government officials as witnesses. The tainted money was recovered from them. In this regard a vigilance case under u/s 7, 13 (1) read with 13 (2) of Prevention of Corruption Act 1988 at Vigilance Bureau Police Station Patiala and further investigation was under progress.
