Bathinda Refinery To Be Inaugurated In April: Sukhbir

Rs 21500 Crore Project Set To Change The Face Of Punjab

Guru Gobind Singh Refinery-a HPCL-Mittal Energy Limited project that has become fully operational would be inaugurated in mid-April, changing the industrial scenario of whole Punjab.

Mr. Prabh Das, Managing Director cum Chief Executive Officer of HPCL-Mittal Energy Limited, today called on Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal and thanked him for total cooperation offered by Punjab Government in completing this Rs 21500 crore mega project in a record time. Mr. Das informed that this was the largest investment in Punjab since independence, which could be possible because of pro-active approach of SAD-BJP government. He said that it was matter of record that the refinery, which started constructing in 2008, has started refining mineral oil in August 2011 less than 48 months. He said that with the cooperation of Punjab Government the company could construct Crude Oil Terminal and 1017 km cross country pipeline in record 27 months. 

Speaking on the occasion, Sukhbir Singh Badal, Deputy Chief Minister, said that with the full operationalisation of Refinery, the Punjab government would now attract tertiary industry that could use the by-products of refinery as their raw material and for this purpose he asked the Industry Department to set-up an Industrial Park of 200 acres in the vicinity of Refinery. Mr. Badal said that Bathinda refinery, tertiary industry and service sector would provide employment to thousands of Punjabi youth and change the total industrial scenario of Punjab.

It was also decided to organize a seminar for famous industrial houses of the country to educate them regarding new investment opportunity offered by Bathinda Refniery in Punjab.
