Saroori met with Chowdhary Ramzan ; demanded enactment of Food security in the state

Ramzan directed Director CA&PD Jammu to monitor distribution mechanism in hilly areas

Senior Congress leader and MLA Inderwal, Ghulam Mohammad Saroori today meet with Minister CA&PD Chowdhary Ramzan, here in summer capital Srinagar and complained that the government- run ration shop has remained defunct and informed that people from various parts of Chatroo, Chingam, Durbeel, Sigdi, Kuchal, Drabshallah, Bunjwah, Saroor, Sarthal, Keshwan, Thakrie, Thathri, Phigsoo, Khara, Bhatyas, Jakyas and other parts are facing acute shortage of ration.

Prominent among those Directors of CA&PD Jammu G. S. Chib oher senior officers were also present in the meeting.He informed Minister CA&PD that he (Saroori) met with many deputations at his residence Jammu and Kashmir and all are alleging that the department of consumer affairs and public distribution (CAPD) has still not distributed ration for the month of April and May in many areas of Inderwal constituency.Saroori said ration is not being distributed fairly as per the requirement and there has been scarcity of the food grains in the remote and mountainous belts of Erstwhile Doda district. He demanded early distribution of 35 kgs of ration per family. He also demanded enactment of the Food Security Act in the state to provide ration to the consumers at par with the rest of the country beside demanded to increase the tenure of ration card from 2 to 5 years from current year.

Minister for CAPD gave patient hearing to the demands and asked the CA&PD Director Jammu G. S. Chib to effectively monitor the distribution mechanism in the hilly areas and ensure that due quota of ration reaches to the people in time. He asked Director CAPD Jammu to coordinate and ensure availability of monthly quota.Ramzan called for stern action against those dealers who violate the prescribed norms and also directed officers to conduct regular market checks to monitor rates and quality of essential commodities besides keeping a check on black marketing and profiteering.
