Punjab Government to honour top three students with 2.25lakh cash award : Sikandar Singh Maluka

The Punjab Government has decided to honour the top three students of 10th class with the cash award of Rs. 2.25 lakh to encourage the spirit of competition amongst students across the state. The Education Minister of Punjab  Sikandar Singh Maluka said that it was for the first time that this kind of initiative was taken by the government which would be an annual feature for the regular students from government and private schools affiliated to the Punjab School Education Board, Mohali. He said that board of directors has already sanctioned the amount for three students namely Muskan Verma, a student of Senior Secondary school Fazilka, who stood first in the 10th result by securing 99.56 % marks would be honoured with cash price of Rs. 1 lakh, following by Daizy Garg from Spring dale public senior secondary school, Sangrur, who bagged second position with 98.22 % with Rs. 75,000. Besides that Charru from GTB Khalsa Senior Secondary School, Malout (Sri Mukatsar Sahib) secured third rank with 98.00 % would also be awarded with cash price of Rs. 50,000.The Minister has also announced that “now onwards these prizes would be given annually and the government was considering increasing the ambit of this scheme by including at least first 10 students, besides implementing it for 12th students in all streams.
