DC Doda, Vikas Sharma inspects implementation of Road Safety measures along NH-244

Directs NHIDCL to widen vulnerable stretches, install crash barriers; evict encroachments along Highway

To take the first hand appraisal of the implementation of the Road Safety measures, Deputy Commissioner Doda, Vikas Sharma today conducted extensive inspection along the National Highway (NH) 244, besides, discussed other public issues with the concerned authorities.En-route from the Doda town towards Assar, the DC inspected vulnerable/black-spots at Pul Doda, Khaleni, Malhori, Kanderi, Jathi and Assar area which require immediate attention of the concerned quarters. He directed the NHIDCL authorities to widen the identified spots to avert the mishaps and to ensure the safety of the commuters. Besides, he asked them to install crash barriers and milestones at all the required spots.The DC also directed the ACR Doda to evict the encroachments along the National Highway in coordination with the NHIDCL authorities. The ARTO and Revenue Officials were asked to identify land as per the required specification for the construction of the Driving test institute.

The DC informed the Road Safety Committee that the road safety measures and public safety is the top most priority of the LG which needs to be implemented in letter and spirit in the district.Earlier, the DC convened a meeting in his office chamber with NHIDCL and Revenue Officials to discuss the issues pertaining to the construction of alternate Sudhamahadev Khaleni, Thathri highway and Thathri to Chamba highway.The DC directed the mediating Committee to take up all the issues projected by NHIDCL with the concerned authorities to resolve the same at the earliest so that hassle free construction of the ambitious project shall be carried out in the district.Among others ACR Doda, GM NHIDCL, Tehsildar Headquarter, ARTO Doda accompanied the DC during the inspection, besides the meeting was attended by ASP Doda, DTI Doda, and other officers of NHIDCL.
