Khursheed Aalam joins PDP

Says, People want change, PDP the only alternative

Renowned trade union leader Mohammad Khursheed Aalam on Monday joined the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). Khursheed along with his supporters drove to PDP Patron Mufti Mohammad Syed’s Gupkar residence where Mufti welcomed him to the party fold.Terming PDP as the only alternative for the people of the Jammu and Kashmir, Aalam said that the time for a change has arrived.

“I have been meeting people from various shades of life and also the employees who form a major chunk of our society; everyone wants a change in the political dispensation”, Aalam told KNS soon after joining PDP. However, he was quick to add that he kept the trade union apolitical for last twenty five years and hopes that it remains so in future also.

The veteran former trade union leader said that he did not join PDP for seeking a mandate or a position in the party but has been driven towards it by the party ideology.“I have come in the party to work for the people and bring PDP closer to them. I don’t aspire for any candidate or portfolio in the party”, claimed Aalam.

He said that his endeavour would be to take PDP to every door step and help people to bring a change in the political set up of the state.Aalam refused to accept that there was any serious challenge for him from National Conference in the city and said that the ruling party was not any kind of challenge for him. “No, I don’t think NC would be a challenge for me. I know the strength of PDP and the impact it has on the minds of the people.” Aalam said, when asked as how he would take on the popularity of NC in the Srinagar City.
