Protection of Forest Land: DC Poonch Inder Jeet reviews action taken against encroachers

Asks to expedite demarcation of vulnerable patches

Deputy Commissioner, Poonch, Inder Jeet today reviewed the action taken with regard to encroached Forest Land such as expunging of illegal entries, demarcation, eviction etc. here at DC office.The meeting was informed that eight(8) locations are to be demarcated in district, including; Thanpir, Noona Bandi, Islamabaad, Nar Behra, Basala, Dhurian, Serian Kalaban Charoon and Poshana for which the demarcation committees have been constituted.The DC asked the concerned to set a target and expedite the process of demarcation of remaining land in consultation with all stakeholders and prepare a roster within 10 days. He also directed to make prior assessment of the Law & Order apprehension and take appropriate arrangements in advance to avoid any unwanted situation.It was further informed in the meeting that all the illegal entries on forest, state, common land have been expunged in light of judgment of High Court and Circular and directions issued by the UT Government.Around 663 illegal Mutations on forest land have also been cancelled by the DC, the meeting was told.DFO Territorial presented 08 cases of alleged illegal mutation on forest land wherein the DC directed that the SQ section shall seek written report from field officials along with Revenue Record within two weeks for disposal of these cases on merit.

The DC directed the ACR/SDMs to verify the Revenue Records and submit the details of all illegal mutations attested on Forest/state/Common/kahcharai land under LB-6, S-432, 394-C etc along with Revenue Records within two weeks for appropriate necessary action. He asked the Forest Department to make available demarcation files with authentic documents on a case to case basis for examination and appropriate necessary action for reconciliation of relevant records of Revenue and Forest departments concerning Forest land.Regarding the eviction of encroachers from forest land, the DC advised that provisions of forest rights Act should also be considered in this regard.However, he strictly directed all the concerned not to allow any type of fresh encroachment on the forest land and warned that strict action shall be taken against the concerned officers if any fresh encroachment takes place on the forest land.The DFO was asked to resolve the Forest-clearance issues of Thannamandi - Surankote Road, and also the roads at Danna Doyan and Khanetar as per rules and also share the report furnished by him regarding  the twin projects.The meeting was attended by Senior Superintendent of Police Dr. Vinod Kumar; Divisional Forest Officer, Mohan Lal; Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Zaheer Ahmed Kaifi; SDM, Surankote, Nahim un Nissa Bhatti; SDM Mendhar, Dr. Sahil Jandiyal; Head Quarter Assistant Jahangir Hussain, Forest Range Officer and other concerned officers.
