Calling for a complete strike during Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh’s visit to the Valley on June 25, Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front Chairman Mohammad Yasin Malik Thursday alleged that at the behest of Congress high command in New Delhi police didn’t allow them to distribute relief material among Doda quake hit victims.Addressing a hurriedly called press conference Malik said, “When I alongwith my workers reached Doda last night a police tram led by a Dy SP raided the hotel and ordered us to board a police bus. Before that they had smashed the windowpanes of the trucks in which we were carrying the relief material for the quake victims and arrested the drivers.”

“What police did was sheer hooliganism. We were released in the morning at Qazigund where from another police party escorted us upto Srinagar. We had gone to Doda for a pure humanitarian work and there was no politics involved in it. Even when local journalists approached us last evening we told same to them. The local papers in Doda have carried it in today’s editions,” he said.

The JKLF chairman accused Congress high command of preventing him from distributing relief among the earthquake victims in Chenab Valley.“The Congress high command in New Delhi had decided to stop us from distributing the relief among earthquake victims which JKLF had collected from Kashmiri people,” Malik said adding, “give me a single instance from anywhere in the world when relief distribution was not allowed.”Terming Dr Manmohan as “murderer” of Afzal Guru Malik said, “In his regime 42 innocent Kashmiris were killed in 2008, 72 in 2009 and 124 in 2010, so I appeal people of Kashmir to observe black day when Indian PM will visit Kashmir,” he said.

Lashing out at the Congress for turning Kashmir University as its “property”, the JKLF chairman said, “Vice Chancellor of the KU is behaving like a halqa president of Congress. He has been assigned the job to turn the Varsity into a Congress property. When even students union in the KU has been banned, Congress yuvraj (Rahul Gandhi) is aloowed to organise conferences in the same varsity. There is no democratic space left in the KU for students, but Congress high command is carrying out its activities there,” he alleged.

Malik said that the Prime minister of India could not do anything during his regime despite the fact that a peace process was going on. “On one hand a peace process was going on and on the other Kashmiris were victimized at the behest of the Congress government in New Delhi. Now PM’s employees are issuing statements in favour of talks and all that, let me ask Manmohan Singh what you have given Kashmiris in past nine years and what can you give in the remaining nine months.”

Terming Congress as most communal party, he alleged, “When Babri Masjid was demolished, the then PM Narasimha Rao was busy in Puja for a successful demolition.”“The party of Ghandi Ji (Congress) has turned itself into a communal force and it has even communalized the Kashmir University,” Malik alleged.
