Foot and Mouth disease hits two villages of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district where large no of population are in deep distress and ate in fear over losing their domestic animals day by day due to negligence of department.Inhabitants of  Kangan and Dadoora villages  are harrowed over non-availability of vaccine for Foot and Mouth disease (FMD), despite department is knowing and didn't take steps to tackle it they alleged.A resident of Dadoora village said he lost his cows due to FMD in last two weeks as none of his cows were vaccinated on time by the concerned husbandry department .He also said no one approached to him even after loosing six cows to the disease. “He had taken loan for establishing cow farm but fears of re-paying it” added. Another farmer from Kangan village mohd Abdullah has the same tale of loosing cows to FMD from past two weeks.Villagers urged  Deputy Commissioner Pulwama to intervene into the matter and alleged Animal Husbandry department Pulwama is not taking serious steps to tackle with the disease.Chief Animal Husbandry OfficerDr Mohd Hussian while quoting local news outlet  said, vaccine supply was not provided in months of March and April this year by higher authorities.our teams are on ground and collecting samples from the FMD hit areas in order to check the strain of the disease.he added.
