Handicrafts and Handloom products of state to get international market : Bikram Singh

Famous e-commerce shopping websites of the country and abroad would soon start to sell the products of Himachal Pradesh Handloom and Handicraft Corporation. This was stated by the Industries Minister Bikram Singh while presiding over the 186th meeting of Board of Directors of Handicrafts and Handloom Corporation here today.He said that necessary process in this regard is being completed with e-commerce shopping websites Amazon and Flipkart. Both the companies have shown there keen interest in Handloom and Handicraft products of the state. In view of the high quality products of corporation, e-commerce companies are very enthusiastic to sell them in the global market and make them available at the doorstep of the consumers.Bikram Singh said that this would benefit the entrepreneurs, artisans and weavers of the state through online business. The corporation has provided training to 3,375 persons in the last three years and the turnover of the corporation for this year has been around 30 crores.Vice-Chairman of the Corporation Sanjeev Katwal said that efficient efforts have been made to ensure quality in various products and a special emphasis is being laid on providing self-employment opportunities to artisans and weavers.In the meeting, Additional Chief Secretary Industries, Ram Subhag Singh stressed on taking innovative measures for marketing the products of the Corporation. He also asked to explore the possibilities of opening sales centers of the corporation at all airports in the state.Managing Director Kumud Singh conducted the proceedings of the meeting.Members of the Board of Directors Baldev Singh, Director Industries Hans Raj Sharma, General Manager Yogesh Gupta, Company Secretary Sudarshan Sharma and other senior officers were also present in the meeting.Industries Minister also presided over meetings of Boards of Directors of HP GIC and Himachal Pradesh Khadi and Village Industries Board.
