DC Launches Post Covid ICU And Oxygen Plant In Shrimaan Hospital

Says, Such Initiatives Would Strengthen The Efforts Against This Battle

In another bid to further augment healthcare infrastructure in the city to tackle Covid-19 pandemic, Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori on Friday launched city's first post covid ICU along with a PSA based oxygen generation plant at Shrimann super speciality hospital situated at Pathankot Road, Jalandhar.While inaugurating the plant, the DC said that this would strengthen the entire infrastructure required to combat the virus as this plant would ensure production of medical oxygen at the rate of 750 liters per minute. He further added that this plant would help tackling the third wave, if it hits by making Jalandhar a self-reliant district in term of oxygen generation.The DC added that the district administration had made the appeal to all private healthcare institutions and industries to install their own oxygen plants to become self-reliant following which hospitals are coming forward to start their own plants.

While interacting with the hospital Directors Dr VP Sharma, Dr Harmeet Paul Singh, Dr Rajiv Bhatia and Dr Ajay Marwaha, Deputy Commissioner also reviewed the Covid-19 facilities in the hospital. Mr. Thori also inaugurated 10 bedded Post Covid ICU in Shrimann Superspeciality Hospital for the care of Covid-19 patients which is first of a kind initiative in the city. Medical Director of Shriman Superspeciality Hospital, Dr VP Sharma briefed that even after getting Covid-19 negative reports, patients who have got lung damage due to viral pneumonia require intensive Care support post covid. He added that for the first time in the Jalandhar city any Hospital has taken such kind of initiative by starting dedicated facility for the rehabilitation and recovery of Covid-19 patients.Pertinently, acceding to administration's appeal, NHS, Patel and New Ruby Hospitals have started their own oxygen generation plants, which has resulted into augmented oxygen availability in Jalandhar.
