Hurriyat (M) may visit Pakistan after new govt takes over

Hurriyat Conference (M) Mirwaiz Umar Farooq Monday said they might visit Pakistan after the new government takes over.Talking to KNS after chairing Hurriyat executive council meeting Mirwaiz said, “There is no immediate plan (to visit Pakistan) but once the new government takes the charge may be after that we may think to visit there.”

Asked whether they were in touch with Pakistani leaders he said, “We were in contact with them (Pak leaders) already. We had a detailed meeting with Mian Nawaz Sharief (in December 2012) and he made commitment with us that if he comes to power he will push hard for involvement of Kashmiri leadership in the solution of the vexed problem.”The Hurriyat (M) chairman said that strong government in Pakistan will take shape soon and reengage with India to find solution to all issues. “However, focus should remain on Kashmir. Nawaz Sharief is an old hand on Kashmir and he has strong emotional attachment with Kashmir,” he added.

Earlier, the Hurriyat (M) executive meet expressed satisfaction over the successful completion of elections in Pakistan and congratulated the Pakistani people for showing maturity by voting despite threats.The meeting also finalised the programme of ‘Hafte-Shahadat’ which begins from May 16. It was decided that from May 16 onwards, Quran-khwani would be held at Hurriyat headquarters and on May 19 a seminar would be held. They Hurriyat (M) appealed the people to observe complete shutdown on May 21.
