Mirwaiz shocked over death of Pak prisoner
Demands impartial probe into the incident

Hurriyat Conference (M) Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq Thursday expressed shock and grief over the demise of Pakistani prisoner, Sanaullah Ranjay at a Chandigarh hospital.Ranjay was critically injured during a lethal attack by a court-martialled Indian soldier at Kot Bhalwal Jail in Jammu. While expressing his concern over the state of affairs in the Indian jails, Mirwaiz said, “The death of Ranjay reflects the lawlessness and poor security arrangement for the prisoners in Indian Jails.”He said the careless and non serious attitude of the Indian authorities towards the prisoners is resulting in their deaths.The Hurriyat Chairman demanded an impartial probe into the incident and said the perpetrator of the crime should be punished. As a result of this incident, he said that Kashmiri prisoners lodged in different jails across India are scared and suffering from insecurity. He said that Hurriyat has been demanding that hundreds of Kashmiri prisoners lodged in jails and torture centers in India should be transferred back to Kashmir.Mirwaiz said Kashmiri prisoners have come under attack earlier as well and this incident has raised serious concerns for them. Demanding security for the prisoners in both the countries-India and Pakistan, he said that such incidents can only be stopped by sending the fellow prisoners back to their respective countries.He said such incidents are the direct fallout of the pending Kashmir issue between the two countries, adding, such incidents can be avoided only if K issue is resolved for once and all.Appealing International rights groups and UN to pressurize India to ensure security of the Kashmiri prisoners, Mirwaiz sympathized with the bereaved family of Sanauualh. He also prayed for the deceased soul and expressed solidarity with the family.
