Weeklong Pre-admission Counselling Mela concludes at GDC Baramulla

The Weeklong Preadmission Counselling Mela ended after seven days of ardor with a modest valedictory ceremony at Government Degree College, Baramulla on April 03, 2021. Prof. (Dr.) Mushtaq Ahmad Lone, principal of the college was the chief guest and Mr. Zeeshan Khan (Young Professional), Miss Nadia (Career Counselling Officer, DE & CC, Baramulla) and Prof. Mudasir Ahmad (District Career Counselling Officer) as the special guests of the event.Prof. Lone in his inaugural address welcomed and thanked all the stakeholders associated with the Weeklong Preadmission Counselling Mela. He was all praise to Higher Education Department of UT of J & K for conceiving and implementing the idea of preadmission counselling in J & K colleges. Prof. Lone also appreciated the role of Divisional and District Coordinators, Career Counselling Officers, faculty with expertise in Psychological Counselling, and Placement Officers. He also appreciated the passion and voluntarism demonstrated by students who turned for counselling before registering themselves for a course/program. He aspired that students should make optimal use of the expert counselling they received during the Mela and wished them success in all their future endeavors.

Earlier, Dr. Navshad Ahmad Wani, Convener, Psychological cum Career Counselling and Placement Cell (PCCPC) of the college highlighted the individual and collective efforts put in by different stakeholders at college level that eventually translated the idea of preadmission counselling into a great success. He recognized the professional and exemplary efforts and contributions of Mr. Zeeshan Khan and Miss Nadia.Prof. Amira Wali, Career Counselling Officer of the college in her benign and cutting edge elegance summarized the entire program in a lucid, cogent, and perspicuous propriety. She tabled and briefed the audience about some milestones as the byproducts of the weeklong program and pointed to certain areas where improvement is warranted. Prof. Amira along with officers of other verticals of PCCPC, were exclusively associated with the conduct and implementation of the weeklong program at GDC Baramulla – a lead college in north Kashmir.Prof. Mudasir Ahmad (District Career Counselling Officer) highlighted the importance of preadmission counselling in the colleges. He overviewed the seven days of the fest and gave the audience an insight on how successful the event has been.Mr. Zeeshan Khan in his address extended gratitude to the Principal of the college for the co-ordination and support in organizing the weeklong programme and emphasized on the vision of preadmission counselling programme in the colleges and the need to touch greater heights with every passing year.The valedictory came to a close with the vote of thanks delivered by Prof. A. M. Chalkoo, Convener, IQAC of the college.
