Saroori demanded opening of Kishtwar-Sinthan road

Senior Congress Leader & MLA Inderwal Ghulam Mohammad Saroori has demanded immediate opening of Kishtwar-Sinthan road to make shortest road link connectivity between the people of twin hilly and far-flung districts of Doda and Kishtwar with summer capital Srinagar.In a press statement issued here, Saroori said that since Doda-Batote road has been declared unsafe for vehicular movements after a several stretchs washed away near Assar, Ragi Nalla, daily landslides and laid stress to connect both Doda and Kishtwar district with the rest of the world by way of opening of Kishtwar-Sinthan road which according to Saroori is the need of hour. “It is the need of the hour that this route connecting Doda and Kisthwar with the rest of the world should be opened without any delay,” said Saroori.He said that with the opening of this road, there will be a huge flow of local as well as foreign tourists to both these districts as both these routes are attractive for tourists. “We can give boost to the tourism pilgrimage also as numbers of religious places of different religions are located in these two districts as number of Pilgrims could not visit those religious places due to poor connectivity,” said Saroori.Later Saroori telephonically brief Chief Engineer Beacon Brig R K Sharma and OC 118 Road Construction Company (RCC) of Beacon about public demand & discussed the matter of opening of Sinthan top road at war footing at an earliest.

He asked the Chief Engineer to immediately take up repair and patchwork required at several places along the National Highway from Thathri-Kishtwar. He also urged BEACON to regularly maintain the road and remove potholes on an urgent basis.Saroori also asked Mr. Sharma to complete snow clearance of Sinthan Road that connects Anantnag district with Kishtwar so that it is reopened for vehicular traffic. He also discussed telephonically with BEACON Chief Engineer the issue of installation of crash barriers along Batote-Kishtwar road and immediate surfacing and pre-mixing of Kandni-Mugalmaidan road.The Chief Engineer assured the Saroori that repair work on the Thathri-Kishtwar and all other important road links in the Kishtwra district will be taken up immediately.Chief Engineer R K Sharma assured Mr. Saroori that ending May Sinthan road will be opened for vehicular movement adding all important roads maintained by BEACON will be improved to facilitate smooth flow of traffic.
