Men and Material in place for MC Polls : Girish Dayalan Rehearsal of Polling Duty staff slated for Feb 7

Requisite men and material are in place for the conduct of free and fair polls for the civic bodies , informed District Electoral Officer (DEO) , Girish Dayalan in a meeting held with the returning officers here today at the District Administrative Complex, Mohali. The meeting was especially attended by the Election Observers for the district, Mr. MS Chinna , Ms Kanwalpreet Brar and Mrs. Parampal Kaur to keep abreast of the polling arrangements.DEO pepped up the officers for the task. He informed that duties have been assigned to the staff and the mandatory rehearsal of the polling staff would be conducted on 7th  and 10th February. Randomization of the EVM machines has been done and would be distributed as per the plan, soon. The counting and storage centers / strong rooms have been identified. He also informed that the Complaint Redressal Cell has been setup under the District Food and Civil Supply Controller and Media Monitoring Cell has been established under the District Public Relations Officer.Kits containing material for COVID prevention are being procured and would be handed over to the polling parties. 

The kit contains face shields, masks, gloves, sanitizers and a thermal scanner.He also informed that the District Administration is mulling over setting up all-women booths to encourage female voter turn up.SSP Satinder Singh informed that the road map for peaceful and safe conduct of polls is in place. As per the norms, police personnel have been assigned areas of duty and extra force would be deployed in sensitive and hyper sensitive polling stations. Besides, Patrolling Parties would be pressed into operation during the entire polling period.The Observers stress upon prompt redressal of complaints, if any and suggested setting up of complaint redressal cell at Returning Officer(RO) level , besides the district level cell. They also suggested sanctioning permission for loud speakers at RO level. The Observers called for close co-ordination between the Accounts Committee and the model court of conduct compliance staff to insured proper booking of election expenses. They also suggested proper sanitization and fogging of polling stations.Besides others, the meeting was attended by Ashika Jain, Rajiv Gupta(both ADCs), SDM Himanshu Jain, Jagdeep Sehgal and Kuldeep Bawa.
