Punjab school education and PWD minister Mr. Vijay Inder Singla, on Wednesday, handed over a cheque of Rs. 5 lakh as financial assistance to the family members of the farmer who laid his life in farmer agitation against agriculture laws. It is pertinent to mention that farmer Gurcharan Singh resident of village Bakhopir of Bhawanigarh subdivision went to Singhu Border to join the protest on December 25, 2020 and after falling ill he returned to his home where he breathe his last breath on January 3, 2021.While giving the cheque to family members, the cabinet minister assured every possible help and said that Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has always stood by the interests of the state. He added that their government will not allow the Modi government to implement these black laws in Punjab and they were ready to sacrifice any post or position. He said that their government had already passed bills in Vidhan Sabha against these bills which were pending on the table of the Governor for approval since months.Mr. Vijay Inder Singla said that the Modi government has unconstitutionally passed these controversial bills to benefit their ‘corporate friends’ and now they are not paying heed to the demands of lakhs of farmers who were agitating since months. He added that apart from devastating the agriculture sector in the country, these bills have also been targeted to cease the relation of farmers, laborers and small traders.On this occasion, SDM Bhawanigarh Dr. Karamjit Singh, family members of the deceased farmer and several others were also present.
