Project To Boost Wooden Inlay Handocraft In Region

With a view to further boosting the wooden inlay handicraft work culture in the region, the Industries and Commerce Minister Sunder Sham Arora on Sunday laid the foundation stone of Common Facility Centre at Boothgarh under SFURTI.While laying the foundation stone in Wood Inlay Cluster, the Minister informed that the construction of Common Facility Center’s (CFC) building would be completed before March 31, where modern machines related with the mechanised work on hand made wooden articles. He said that the project would be accomplished at a cost of nearly Rs 1.42 crore, which would be beneficial for over 200 artisans of Hoshiarpur area. CFC will be developed on 5500 square feet area, said the Minister adding that the project would be initiated under Scheme of Fund for Regeneration of Traditional Industry (SFURTI) . Once the project is made operational, the artisans of the region can easily get the machine work done on their wooden articles including wood inlay furniture, wooden boxes for ornaments, wooden trays, wooden spinning wheel and other wooden goods, he added.The Minister pointed out that the centre would be quipped with wood CNC, laser cutting and other machines besides having wood treatment and wood seasoning plants etc. He said that any artisan from the region could take advantage from the CFC while the maintenance of this Center would be done by Wood Handicraft Artisans Welfare Society, Boothgarh.Prominent amongst those present on the occasion included Chairman Improvement Trust Advocate Rakesh Marwaha, GM District Industry Centre Amarjit Singh, President Wood Inlay Cluster Satyug Singh, General Secretary of Cluster Satnam Singh and Arun Kumar etc.CAPTION: Industries & Commerce Minister Sunder Sham Arora laying foundation stone of upcoming Common Facility Centre at Boothgarh on Sunday.
