With placement of 8112 youths, Jalandhar ranks third in Punjab in offering jobs : O.P. Soni

The Jalandhar district has been ranked third in Punjab by the state government in ensuring placements to the youths as it has ensured jobs to 8112 unemployed youth in 20 fairs held in September this year under the Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh’s ambitious Ghar-Ghar Rozgaar Mission program.Participating in the virtual culmination of sixth state-level job fair presided by Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Medical Education Minister Punjab OP Soni along with MLAs Rajinder Beri, Avtar Singh Junior Bawa Henry, Chaudhry Surinder Singh, Mayor Jagdish Raj Raja, Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori, ADC (D) Vishesh Sarangal, congratulated 8112 youths in Jalandhar who have started new innings in the lives and set to contribute widely in the development of state.Soni while reiterating the state government’s firm resolve to provide youth with ample job opportunities said that youth are an asset for any country and they can help transform the entire state if they get the right opportunity.The Minister mentioned that during the 6th mega job fairs, a total of 93593 youth got placement in September of which Jalandhar has offered job opportunities to 8112 applicants adding he said that the district has roped-in 14947 vacancies from various companies and a total of 5999 male and 2112 female candidates and one specially-abled got placement during the job fairs.

Soni said the District Bureau of Employment and Enterprise had organized 20 online and physical job fairs at various locations and had played an instrumental role in fulfilling the dream of job to every youth.He said that in these 20 job fairs, a total of 502 companies came forward and participated massively and 10205 youths took part.Meanwhile interacting with the media later, the minister revealed that the government medical college in Mohali would start this year as construction of the building has been already completed; however, the setting up of two more medical colleges at Hoshiarpur and Kapurthala is underway. He said that funds worth Rs. 50 Crore each released by the state government for these collages and a whopping amount of Rs. 975 Crore (Rs. 325 on each college) to be spent on these colleges.Reinforcing the state government’s commitment to creating massive job opportunities in the state, Soni said that Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh led state government would come up with one Lakh government jobs in the next year, which would be a catalyst in reducing the unemployment rate in the state.Prominent among present include congress leader Sukhwinder Singh Lali, Deputy Director District Bureau of Employment and Enterprise Jaswant Rai and others.
