To curtail the spread of novel coronavirus and minimize the Case Fatality Rate (CFR) in Jalandhar, Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori directed the health department to ensure testing of all the contacts of a positive case by Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction (RTPCR) machines only in Jalandhar .Participating in a video conference presided over by Chief Secretary Vinni Mahajan, Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori accompanied by ADCs Vishesh Sarangal, Jasbir Singh said that the district administration is carrying out daily testing around 4500 for past few days including RAT and RTPCR but now the administration would conduct the sampling of all contacts of each positive case through RTPCR machines. He said that RTPCR testing is more effective than RAT that's why there is need to detect and isolating co-morbid case at the earliest which will help to minimize the CFR ultimately.Ghanshyam Thori also added that contacts of each positive case would be tested by RTPCR machines and also told health department to increase the number of sampling in the Jalandhar. He further informed that the only way to flatten the curve and breaking the transmission chain is to do more and more testing, treating and isolating the patients at the earliest. He said that the Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh led state government had already introduced the walk-in testing of RTPCR and direct home isolation for the suspected corvid-19 patients. He said that the district administration was fully geared up and prepared to tackle any situation arising from the Covid-19 pandemic as beds in private and government hospitals were already reserved.Deputy Commissioner said that the district administration would leave no stone unturned to serve people in these trying situations. On the occasion, SDMs Rahul Sindhu, Gautam Jain, Sanjiv Kumar Sharma, Assistant Commissioners Harpreet Singh, Hardeep Singh, Assistant Civil Surgeon Dr Gurmeet Kaur Duggal and others were present.
