COVID-19: JKSACS conducts Sensitization programme for Religious Leaders at Baramulla

Jammu and Kashmir AIDS Control Society as part of its continued IEC campaign today carried out Sensitisation programme in Darul Uloom Sheeri, Baramulla for the Ulemas, Muftis and Molanas of district Baramulla.At the outset, Addl. Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Baramulla, Mohammad Ahsan Mir thanked Project Director, Jammu and Kashmir AIDS Control Society for conducting such type of awareness programmes throughout the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir.He highlighted the role played by the Department of Health and Medical Education in the fight against the COVID-19 in the UT of Jammu & Kashmir.Moulana Abdul Qayoom Qasimi from Darul Uloom Sheeri, gave a detailed sermon on COVID-19 pandemic in the light of Islam and also highlighted the role of Imams, Moulanas and Mufti’s in controlling the spread of the pandemic.Dr.  Inayat, Dr. Feroz, and Dr. Asif, Medical Officers from GMC, Baramulla gave detailed information about the COVID-19 pandemic, its impact on human body and how the transmission can be stopped with strict adherence to the social distancing and wearing of masks during the gatherings at the religious places.Incharge Nodal Officer, COVID-19, DC Office Baramulla Naveed Altaf, requested the participants to strictly follow and also advocate for the strict adherence of the SOPs issued by the Government from time to time in order to check the spread of the disease.Dr. Mushtaq Ahmad Rather, Project Director Jammu and Kashmir AIDS Control Society highlighted the impact of the proper dissemination of the information on COVID-19 to the masses and the effective role that the religious leaders can play in curbing the pandemic.Masks & Sanitizers were also distributed among the participants.
