In yet another initiative aimed at containing the Covid 19 pandemic more efficaciously under 'Mission Fateh' launched by Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh, the Deputy  Commissioner Mr. Ghanshyam Thori today conducted the inspection in Punjab Institute of Medical Science (PIMS) and Dr BR Ambedkar National Institute of Technology (NIT) for  ramping up the bed capacity and, if needed, converting these institutes into Covid Care Centres to meet any unforeseen urgency. The Deputy Commissioner Mr Ghanshyam Thori  said that district administration was fully geared up to meet any situation arising due to Covid 19 pandemic. Mr Thori also held meetings with authorities of PIMS and Dr BR  Ambedkar National Institute of Technology during the visit. Mr Thori said told them if the need arises in the future, Covid Care Treatment facility would be set up in these institutes  and bed capacity would be strengthened.Mr. Thori said that the feasibility of converting PIMS as Covid Care Centre with 350-bed capacity would be explored and the matter  would be taken up with the state government. The Deputy Commissioner also took the round of various wards and ICU there and gave necessary directions to them.During the  visit at Dr BR Ambedkar NIT where district administration has set up quarantine centre, he said a detailed contingency plan has been already chalked out and duties have been  already assigned to the officers of the civil and Police administration to use the facility if needed in the future as Covid Care Centre with 1000-bed capacity. He said that with the  active support and cooperation of the general public the fight against Corona Virus would be won. He asked the people to exercise restraint and not get panic due to any reason.  He also appealed them to support the district administration in this war against Covid 19 and following the norm of social distancing, masking and hand washing in their lives. On  the occasion, SDM-II Mr Rahul Sindhu, PUDA Estate Officer Ms Navneet Kaur Bal and others were present.
