Newly appointed Deputy Commissioner of Jalandhar Ghanshyam Thori today said that he would accord top priority to provide clean, transparent and responsive administration to the people along with making Jalandhar a Corona Virus free district.Interacting with the media persons here after assuming the charge of his office, the Deputy Commissioner said that all out efforts would be made to provide clean, transparent and responsive administration to the people. Mr. Thori, a 2010 batch officer of the Indian Administrative Service, said that a transparent mechanism would be evolved for further streamlining the administrative functioning in the district. He said that no stone would be left unturned towards the implementation of the pro-people and development oriented policies of state government to benefit the masses.The Deputy Commissioner further said that he would carry forward the welfare programs and policies of the Punjab government to safeguard the interests of the weaker and underprivileged sections of the society adding that due focus would be laid on Revenue generation also. Mr. Thori said that he would also ensure that an effective and transparent mechanism was put in place for benefiting the people of the district in a big way. He said that the schemes like Ghar-Ghar Naukri, Smart Village Campaign, Punjab Urban Environment Improvement Program, Sarbat Sehat Beema Yojna, Pensions, DAPO, BUDDY, Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) and others would be implemented smoothly for ensuring that the benefits of these schemes were percolated to the people.The Deputy Commissioner further said that under ‘Mission Fateh’- launched by Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh a few days back, a comprehensive roadmap would be prepared to ensure resurgence of district from the Covid 19 pandemic. 

He said that strenuous efforts would be made to give fillip to the socio-economic growth of the district thereby ensuring the prosperity of its people. Mr. Thori said that apart from putting the district on high growth trajectory concerted efforts would also be made to make it Corona Virus free by checking its spread. The Deputy Commissioner said that already a slew of activities were going on to generate maximum awareness amongst people against Corona Virus which would be further accelerated. He said that augmentation in infra structure, if any needed, to combat would be done to impart quality treatment. Mr Thori said that strict enforcement of social distancing would be ensured and after review Executive Magistrates and Sectoral officers would be asked to issue challans to people violating the norms.The Deputy Commissioner said that every effort would be made to further streamline the functioning of the government departments and to ensure that people were benefitted from the government schemes. He said that weekly review would be held on every Saturday to assure their proper implementation. Mr. Thori also said that the district administration was duty-bound to ensure the well-being of the residents of the district but this onerous task could not be completed without the support and cooperation of the people. On the occasion, the Additional Deputy Commissioners Vishesh Sarangal and Mr. Jasbir Singh, Sub Divisional Magistrates Mr. Rahul Sindhu, Mr Gautam Jain, Dr Sanjiv Sharma and Mr. Jai Inder Singh, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Mr Harpreet Singh, Superintendent of Police Mr RPS Sandhu, Assistant Commissioners Mr Hardeep Singh, Mr Randeep Singh Gill and others along with other officers welcomed the Deputy Commissioner in his office.Earlier, the Deputy Commissioner was given Guard of Honor at the local circuit house by a contingent of Punjab Police.The Deputy Commissioner was flanked by his wife and Deputy Commissioner Income Tax Mrs Gagan Kundra Thori, Mrs Sudesh Kundra, Mr Sushil Kumar Kundra and Mr Pankaj Kundra.
