Amid pressure of COVID-19 duties, Mansa police recover 601 mobile phones

Even as the entire police machinery was heavily occupied in enforcing curfew to prevent people from Coronavirus (COVID-19), the Mansa police in a rarer feat of community  policing have given a relief to the economically affected society by returning back their lost or stolen mobile phones recovered during the lockdown.Inspector General of Police  (IGP) Bathinda range Jaskaran Singh during his maiden visit here, while briefing the press conference said that the district police led by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Dr  Narinder Bhargav has recovered as many as 601 lost/stolen mobile phone devices.Divulging the details, Dr Narinder Bhargav said that a special team of young and experienced  officers headed by Superintendent of Police (SP Headquarters) Satnam Singh was constituted, which used traditional and modern scientific techniques to trace the stolen or lost  mobile phones.He said that of total 601 mobile phones recovered, 26 were retrieved from out of the state. He said that the recovery includes many expensive mobile phone  brands including eight Iphones, 136 Samsung phones and other smartphones of various different companies.Dr Bhargav said that more such recoveries are on the way as the  team has been working round the clock to trace more lost or stolen mobile phones of the public.IGP Bathinda range Jaskaran Singh handed over the recovered phones to their  owners. Keeping in mind the prescribed norms for gatherings, limited persons were called to receive their mobile phones back at the police lines. SSP Mansa said that rest of the  beneficiaries will get their mobile phones at their doorsteps via Village/Ward Police Officers.IGP Bathinda range lauded the sincere efforts being made by the Mansa Police on  multiple fronts despite the duties related to COVID-19 awareness and implementation of curfew while also keeping in mind social distancing norms.Meanwhile, during the  ceremony, IGP Bathinda range Jaskaran Singh also distributed “DGP’s Award for Exemplary Sewa” to society to seven police officers and one Doctor for their contribution in  bringing the district in Green zone after the initial spike in COVID-19 cases.
