The District Administration Bandipora has roped in the services of Education Department to create awareness among students about taking precautions to avoid spread of corona virus.The teachers have been directed to dedicate first few minutes of online classes for awareness among students about COVID-19 and the precautionary measures to be taken.The initiative is part of a sustained community outreach programme titled ‘HIFAZAT-Bandipora Fights Back COVID-19’ launched by the district administration aimed at creating mass awareness about COVID-19.Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Ravinder Kumar said that amid the lockdown, online classes are being conducted across the district as 417 schools have been linked to online classes and 2683 lecturers, masters and teachers have been involved in virtual classes through zoom app, video lecturing and conference calls benefitting 46337 students from Class1st to 12th in the district.Besides 9000 students are benefitting through video lessons on local cable networks in the district.He said the online platform will be used to create awareness among the students who can act as the best ambassadors to pass on the message to their families regarding precautionary measures to be taken to avoid spread of corona virus.

Kumar said the teachers shall dedicate the zero hour for awareness wherein they will discuss about COVID19 and precautionary measures including use of masks, sanitizers, personal hygiene, social distancing etc.In this regard, the Chief Medical Officer Bandipora started conducting training of teachers involved in online teaching so that they can pass on the message to the students.Chief Education Officer Bandipora Javid Iqbal said that the master trainer have been trained by the  Medical experts who shall train the other teachers involved in online classes so that awareness is created among the masses especially students through online platform.DC Bandipora said with gradual ease in lockdown restrictions, an urgent need has arisen for sustained awareness efforts on COVID-19 with the community participation at grassroots level in the district, as a precautionary measure for prevention of community transmission of COVID-19.The district administration has devised a 14-point strategy that shall involve community leaders, NGOs and government departments to create awareness and sensitize people about the COVID19.
