O.P. Soni Reviews Functioning Of Gmcs & Hospitals For Covid-19, Directs To Increase Number Of Oxygen Beds

Asks Senior Doctors To Conduct Daily Rounds In Wards To Take Stock Of Situation

In order to further intensify the efforts to contain the COVID-19, Punjab Medical Education and Research Minister O.P. Soni today reviewed the working of all the Government Medical Colleges and Hospitals through video conferencing.While reviewing the status of operations against COVID-19, the Minister also directed the Department to increase the number of beds equipped with oxygen facilities in all government medical college hospitals to meet any exigency.Principal Secretary Medical Education Mr. DK Tiwari, Special secretary Karunesh Sharma, Director Medical Education and Research Dr. Avneesh Kumar, Joint Director Dr. Akashdeep Aggarwal, Vice Chancellor of Baba Farid Health Sciences University Dr. Raj Bahadur, Vice Chancellor Guru Ravidas Medical University Mr. Bal Krishan Sharma Kaushik and Principals & medical superintendents of medical colleges and hospitals attended the meeting.During the meeting Mr. Soni evaluated the services being rendered by the medical colleges and hospitals to the patients suffering from COVID-19, suspected patients. 

The Minister also expressed his satisfaction over the work being done by the medical colleges and hospitals. He instructed the officers to persuade all the people who had recovered from the corona virus after undergoing treatment at the medical college to donate plasma for the treatment of another patient who are under treatment for Corona.  He said that all the medical colleges should send daily reports to the headquarters about the patients admitted for treatment of coronavirus and the patients already undergoing treatment.The Minister further pointed out that the State Government was making all out efforts to strengthen the medical colleges and hospitals to contain the coronavirus far more effectively.Mr Soni also urged the doctors to encourage cured patients to contribute financially to the medical College and hospitals. The Minster also directed the senior doctors to conduct daily rounds in the ward.Mr. Soni asked the Vice Chancellors of universities present in the video conferencing and Director Medical Education and Research to visit the colleges and hospitals under their jurisdiction in the state and to chalk out a blueprint to further intensify the quality health services. Mr. Soni commended the services of all the doctors and staff who have been working day and night to win over this crisis.
