Jai Ram Thakur directs officers to ensure availability of labourers to avoid inconvenience to horticulturists

Each and every person visiting the State from other parts of the country should be properly tested and traced to ensure that he has no symptoms of COVID-19. This was stated by Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur while addressing the Deputy Commissioners, Superintendents of Police and Chief Medical Officers of the State through video conferencing from Shimla today.Chief Minister said that SOP regarding entry and checking of persons visiting the State should be strictly adhered to and special care should be taken to diagnose the persons arriving from the hot spots. He said that the people coming from hot spots should be invariably tested for coronavirus and allowed to go for home quarantine only after they are tested negative.Jai Ram Thakur said that special thrust should be paid on  Information Education and Communication (IEC) regarding taking fundamental precautions such as use of face mask, social distancing and seeing a doctor in case of any ILI symptoms.  He said that people should also be sensitized to avoid unnecessary visit to public places and maintaining proper social distancing at work places as well.

Chief Minister said that the home quarantine facility must be made more effective and violators must be dealt with strictly. He said that team of health workers, ASHA workers, Anganwari workers and PRI representatives should adopt pro-active approach to keep a vigil on home quarantine persons to check spread of the virus in case a person in home quarantine turns out to be positive.Jai Ram Thakur said that efforts should also be made to ensure availability of labourers particularly in apple belts so that the horticulturists do not face any inconvenience. He also asked to ensure proper testing of labourers coming from other States and if necessary they should be properly quarantined. He said that steps should be taken for providing adequate manpower in mango growing areas of the State as the mango season is nearing.Chief Minister said that about 1.92 lakh people of the State working in different parts of the country had arrived in the State and all of them have been kept under quarantine. He said that therefore the people of the State need not fear about the sharp hike in number of COVID-19 positive patients in the State.Chief Secretary Anil Khachi directed the Deputy Commissioners to strictly follow the guidelines issued by the Union Government as well State Government.Director General of Police Sanjay Kundu, Additional Chief Secretary Health R.D. Dhiman, Principal Secretary Revenue Onkar Sharma and other officers attended the meeting.
