DC holds meeting with telecom operators, asks to improve connectivity in Rajouri

Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Mohammad Nazir Sheikh on Wednesday convened a meeting with the representatives of telecom operators to review the services being provided by the Company in the district.The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Sher Singh, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Mohd Ashraf, District Statistical and Evaluation Officer, Bilal Rashid Mir, District Informatics Officer, Muzaffar Mir and representatives from Telecom Companies including JIO Centre Manager, Inder Pal Singh, Territorial and Sales Manager Idea, Bilal Ahmed and Territorial and Sales Manager Airtel, Haq Nawaz Khan.Deputy Commissioner, while addressing the meeting, said that there is an urgent need to improve the connectivity in the border areas of the district to mitigate the sufferings of the public on this account. He said poor connectivity has become an impediment in the way of progress in these areas.DC, while expressing dismay over poor performance of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited in the district, asked the concerned officer from BSNL to upgrade their system as per the need of the public.He stressed on the need of developing dependable communication networks in the district for reducing reaction time of the administration in reaching out to the people in case of any eventuality. He asked them to make the best use of existing infrastructure apart from creating additional infrastructure in the district to provide quality telecommunication services to the public.The Deputy Commissioner directed the telecom operators to resolve all the administrative and technical inter-organisational issues and ensure that all the areas have similar service at par with other areas of the UT.He also instructed the concerned to submit the list of Dark Zone areas (areas having no connectivity) and Shadow Zones areas (areas having partial connectivity) within the shortest possible time so that necessary steps can be taken up to provide similar connectivity to all the areas of the district.
