Government ITI Mohali distributed 44001 masks free of cost to the needy

As per the instructions given by Charanjit Singh Channi, Cabinet Minister, Department of Technical Education and Industrial Training, Punjab  to all the government industrial training institutes in the state to cope with a natural calamity like Corona, after making 44001 cloth masks by Government Industrial Training Institute (w) Mohali, a unique and historical example of free distribution to the needy has been presented which bears witness to making  girl trainees  meditative and self-respecting.Disclosing this here today District Nodal Officer and Principal of the institute Mr. Shamsher Purkhalvi said that Principal Secretary of the department Mr. Anurag Verma IAS with the intention of contributing in the war against Covid-19 epidemic to make 10 lakh cloth masks was given as target to 78 government institutions of the state. Mr. Purkhalvi said that in order to achieve this goal the entire staff of all the institutes has made history by making 11 lakh cloth masks from around 4200 girl trainees under the able supervision and guidance of Director Mr. Vimal Setia, IAS which were provided free of cost to migrant laborers, sweepers, health workers, police personnel, media personnel and the needy. 

Punjab Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh also lauded the work done by the department for the first time in the public interest. Punjab has been ranked number one by Union Cabinet Minister for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship of India Mr. Mahendra Nath Pandey in appreciation of the National Institution of India which have worked against COVID-19 and Mohali is ranked second out of 6 organizations working for social contribution against Corona epidemic in the state.Mr. Purkhalvi said that the uniqueness of this process was that due to the lockout, the girl trainees stayed in their homes and following the instructions issued by the health department, where they completed the work of making masks, they also continued their online studies. He said that the concerned staff of the institutes had worked very hard for a month and a half to complete this task. Among others present on the occasion were Instructor Mr. Varinder Pal Singh Khalsa, Mr. Rakesh Kumar Dhalla, Mrs. Darshna Kumari, Mrs. Upasana Attri, Mrs. Jasvir Kaur Saini, Mrs. Amritbir Kaur Hundal, Mrs. Rajni Banga and Sewadar Sh. Anil Kumar etc.
