Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab President and Member of Parliament Bhagwant Mann has vehemently opposed the decision of the Punjab Cabinet to implement a new bill under a whole new scheme by shutting down the free power supply to tube wells in the agricultural sector. He termed the move as a deadly step and warned that if the Captain government tried to implement this anti-farmers decision, under pressure from the Modi government at the Center, for which not only the ruling Congress but also the Akali Dal (Badal) and the BJP would get ready to face the music.Addressing the media in Chandigarh on Friday on the issue burning issue of power, Mann slammed the central and state  governments for their anti-people decisions. Others present on the occasion were Leader of Opposition Harpal Singh Cheema, Senior Leaders and MLAs Principal Budhram, Aman Arora, Meet Hayer, Bibi Sarabjit Kaur Manuke, Prof. Baljinder Kaur, Rupinder Kaur Ruby, Jai Krishan Singh Rouri, Manjit Singh Bilaspur, Kulwant Singh Pandori, Core Committee members Gerry Birring, Sukhwinder Sukhi and other party leaders were present.Bhagwant Mann questioned chief minister: "I fail to understand as to why Capt. Amarinder Singh gives his consent to the anti-Punjab and anti-people decisions taken by the Modi government, adding that his government should have convened an all-party meeting over this sensitive issue of electricity by calling in a special session of Punjab Vidhan Sabha to raise a collective voice against the deadly decisions being heaped upon the state government by the Modi Government at the centre.

Lashing out at Akali Dal (Badal), alliance  partner in the Modi government, Bhagwant Mann said: "On what moral ground could Sukhbir Singh Badal oppose the Punjab Cabinet's endorsement to the bill on motors?, which was actually the decision of the Union Cabinet, of which Harsimrat Kaur Badal was an integral part. If the Badals were really concerned about cause of the people of Punjab, especially the farmers, Harsimrat Kaur Badal could have opposed the anti-farmer decision, alleging she chose to maintain a stoic salience for the sake of her ministerial berth.”Mann said that due to the unkempt promises by the Captain government during its three and a half years tenure, no one today trusted and took the government seriously. The farmers in the state knew how the Captain betrayed them on promises of  complete loan waiver, ghar-ghar- naukri to the youth in the state, and now raising of bills by installing meters on motors, which would be later reimbursed under the DBB scheme, which would, surely than not, confound the issue.Discarding the proposal, Mann instead called upon Punjab MPs including the Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh, Sukhbir Singh Badal, Union Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal, Hardeep Singh Puri and Som Prakash to move forward on the condition of arm-twisting the Modi government at the Center for a fiscal stimulus, instead of bucking down under pressure from the centre.Mann, on the occasion opposed the hefty hike by medical colleges in the state, as also the recovery of fines slapped on thermal plants from power consumers by bringing in a new Power Amendment Bill -2020, extending of protective cover to the liquor mafia by letting off the CS by Punjab Cabinet and sought a probe into the seed scam, holding both Captain responsible for the mess up.Sunam MLA Aman Arora, on the occasion,  termed the Power Amendment Bill 2020 being imposed by the Union Government as a direct ‘heist’ on the rights of the people of Punjab, saying that if the Bill got the nod, all the powers would, like the transport mafia, would into the hands of the Ambanis-and Andanis, while subsidies being offered to farmers and ‘dalits’ would face a hammer. He said that the need of the hour was to oppose the proposed Bill hands down.
