2630 migrants embark on journey back home to Purnea & Bettiah in Bihar

First train carried 1370 migrants, Second train had 1260

As many as 2630 migrant workers left for their home State Bihar though for different stations, today from the Mohali Railway Station where they were given a warm send off by the District Administration.The first train in the afternoon left for Purnea at 1 pm carrying 1370 migrant workers while the evening train which departed at 5 pm carried 1260 migrants to Bettiah in West Champaran District, also in Bihar. The migrant population going back to their native places especially the children expressed deepest gratitude to the District Administration for providing them food, water, biscuits and making elaborate preparations for their journey back home.In accordance with the revised guidelines of the Union Ministry of Home Affairs, all the passengers were  compulsorily screened and only asymptomatic passengers are allowed to board the train. It was also ensured that the passengers observe social distancing during boarding the train. On arrival at their destination, the travelling passengers would have to comply with health protocols as are prescribed by the destination State/UT.
