Governor appreciates efforts of SHG preparing masks

There are several Non-Government organisations and Self Help Groups (SHG) contributing in fight against COVID-19 with the assistance of the Government by providing useful  services and preparing essential items required to check spread of disease. These organisations and SHGs are making notable contribution by stitching masks for use of general  public at a reasonable cost at various levels in this pandemic.The market value of the masks was Rs. 25 whereas the masks prepared by these SHGs are costing Rs. six  only.Governor Bandaru Dattatraya, who is also the chairman of Himachal Pradesh State Red Cross Society was today presented five thousand masks by Block Development  Officer Nalagarh. These are triple layered masks of fine quality.  The masks prepared by SHGs are being purchased by Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Department.Shri  Dattatraya has appreciated the contribution of SHGs. He said that these masks would be distributed to the public through Red Cross. He said that with this initiative the needy  women would be able to generate income and motivate them as well.Secretary to Governor Rakesh Kanwar was also present on this occasion.
