District Adm. Pulwama presses Drone to check deforestation & timber smuggling

Drones shall be effective in curbing illegal mining and better land use: DM

In a first District Administration Pulwama today pressed the services of drone to have an aerial view of the deforested area along with tracing the trails of illegal timber smuggling.It is worthwhile to mention that administration in Pulwama has procured a hi-tech drone to keep a check on illegal mining, illegal felling of trees and other activities.District Magistrate Pulwama said that the drone will help in better land use, planning and reconciliation of cadastral maps with revenue records and will also help the administration in future to identify large chunks of vacant land for kick-starting new developmental projects.He said that it has become imperative to impede the illegal mining in the district as most of the material is illegally lifted from the Nallahs and Quarries in the district.He also added that the introduction of  UAV drones for surveillance will help the administration not only in curbing the illegal mining but ensure the compliance to the mining and environmental plans.
