Good news : 35 patients discharged and sent home

Active cases come down to 7 in the district

In a positive development, a total of 35 patients infected with coronavirus have been discharged on Friday, bringing down the number of active cases to mere 7 in the district. In a  press communiqué, Civil Surgeon Dr Manjit Singh informed that as per the new revised discharge guidelines issued by the Punjab Health department, the COVID-19 patient who  has no symptoms of the disease since ten days of admission to the Covid Care facility should be discharged from the hospital and sent home. He added that the recovered  patients who were undergoing treatment at Covid care centre at Gian Sagar hospital near Banur have been strictly directed to place themselves under home quarantine for seven  days as a precautionary measure. The health department teams will keep track of their health regularly.Now, there are 105 positive cases and 95 recovered cases in the district.  The discharged patients belong to different parts of the district. A total of 60 patients have already been discharged from the hospital on different days. Dr Manjit Singh stated that  all the remaining patients are undergoing treatment at Gian Sagar Hospital. All patients are stable and no one is in serious condition.Meanwhile, the recovered patients thanked  the doctors and other staff and said that they were provided good and quality treatment and their other needs of food and drink were also taken care of. They appealed to the  people not to be scared from the disease and take good diet and use all the precautions. The Civil Surgeon again appealed to the people not to leave their homes and only go  out when there is an urgent need. He also asked them to visit hospitals in case of any serious problem only. Instead, they should contact the health department's helpline 104 for  the expert advice. He also asked the people to wash their hands frequently and keep necessary distance from each other. District epidemiologist Dr. Renu Singh and  Dr.Harmandeep Kaur were also present on the occasion.
