COVID-19: DC Rajouri visits GMC&AH, takes stock of sampling arrangements

Deputy Commissioner, Mohammad Nazir Sheikh along with a team of the officers today visited GMC&AH Rajouri and took stock of arrangements being put in place for collection of samples.The Deputy Commissioner was accompanied by the Additional Deputy Commissioner, Sher Singh, Executive Engineer PHE, Mushtaq Ahmed, District Panchayat Officer, Dr Abdul Khabir, Tehsildar Rajouri, Sheraz Chowhan, Nodal Officer COVID Control Room, Dr Javed Ahmed and KAS probationers including Dilip Sharma, Mahroof Qadri and Adil Shabir.The DC reviewed the arrangements being put in place collection of samples for testing of COVID-19. The concerned officer gave a detailed account of the various arrangements and said that the number of persons brought to the sample collection centre has increased many folds during the past few days and there is an immediate need to augment the facilities to ensure hassle free collection of samples.

It is pertinent to mention here that the district administration has established dedicated sample collection centres at GMC &AH for the person coming from outside UT.The DC asked the District Panchayat Officer to arrange and install tent and ensure sitting facility for the temporary stay of these persons during the period of sampling.Executive Engineer PHE has been directed to make necessary arrangements for ensuring smooth supply of the drinking water at the collection centres.The concerned officer from the Transport Department has been instructed to regulate the movement of vehicles and has been asked to identify an alternate place for the parking of vehicles near the centre.The Deputy Commissioner said that the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic is a very tough challenge for the whole world and it is the time to join hands in hand and make collective efforts to beat this invisible and deadly enemy. He advised the officers to follow the Standard Operating Procedures during testing.
