Captain Government Spends Rs 7.86 Lakh For Free And Hassle Free Travel Of Migrants To Katihar

Punjab government led by Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh today successfully sent another batch of 1200 migrants free from Jalandhar to Kathiyar in Bihar via the 12th ‘Sharmik Express’ train which chugged off at 11 am on Saturday.This was the 12th train from the city Railway station which was sent free of cost by the state government which was bearing the entire expenditure worth Rs 7.86 lakh for facilitating these passengers who wanted to go back to their homes in Kathiyar. The state government has already spent more than Rs 70 lakh for sending the migrants stranded in Jalandhar back to their respective states and till Friday more than 13,000 migrants have been sent back in these trains. This was the 12th train from Jalandhar as earlier trains to Daltongunj, Gazipur and Banaras, Lucknow, Gorakhpur, Ayodhya, Azamgarh, Darbhanga, Bahraich, Sultanpur, Mujaffar Nagar and Akbarpur have already been sent.The Deputy Commissioner of Police Mr. Balkar Singh and Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Mr. Gurmeet Singh monitored the entire process of sending these migrants back from the Railway station. The migrants were provided food, water and other necessary items while entering into the city station by the volunteers of Food and Civil Supplies Department. In the same manner they were allowed to board the train while maintaining proper social distancing for which adequate number of cops has been already deployed. In the same manner a team of the Health department was also screening each and every migrant who was entering the Railway station premises.Wishing them a comfortable journey ahead, the Deputy Commissioner of Police said that the district administration was duty-bound for ensuring, free, smooth and hassle free journey to the migrants. He said that elaborate arrangements have been already put in place for this purpose and no stone was being left unturned for this noble cause.
