Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) from Jalandhar West Sushil Kumar Rinku on Saturday said that Punjab Government is committed to providing succor to smart card holders’ families of the district by distributing free wheat and pulses for three months to them under Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Ann Yojna.Reviewing the distribution work of the wheat and pulses in Bhargo Camp locality today, MLA Mr Rinku said that the drive has been started a few days back on the directions of Punjab Chief Minister to give relief to 2.41 lakh Smart Card holders families of Jalandhar in the prevailing conditions arising out of Covid-19 pandemic under Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Ann Yojna.MLA Mr Sushil Rinku said that government is duty-bound to ensure fair distribution of wheat and pulses to eligible beneficiaries of the district.Expressing satisfaction, he asked the District Food and Supply Controller Mr Narinder Singh to expedite the distribution drive so that the relief can be ensured to all the beneficiaries.Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Mr Varinder Kumar Sharma said that in wake of the outbreak of Covid 19 pandemic, the government decided to give 5 kilograms of wheat per beneficiary per month for three months and one-kilogram pulses per family per month for three months.Mr. Sharma said that free distribution of Wheat @ 15 Kg per member of family and Daal @ 3kg only for full family (irrespective of a number of family members) has to be ensured depot holders of food department to all smart card holders. He said that the administration has formed to complete the process smooth and hassle-free.He said that proper weight by depot holders is being ensured with zero tolerance towards any malpractice adding that no use of thumb machine is being made due to Corona Virus.
