Secretary Punjab Mandi Board Ravi Bhagat today expressed complete satisfaction over ongoing procurement operations in Jalandhar district despite of Covid 19 pandemic. The Secretary Mandi Board, who visited main grain market in Jalandhar and Kartarpur to review the wheat procurement operations, reiterated the firm commitment of Punjab Government led by Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh to procure every single grain of the farmers.He said that despite the prevailing situation arising out of Covid-19 pandemic, the Punjab Mandi Board and district administration has ensured the smooth and hassle free procurement in the grain markets this season.Mr. Bhagat said that 5.30 lakh metric ton of wheat was expected in all the mandis of Jalandhar during the ongoing Rabi procurement season. Secretary Mandi Board said that till date 241307 metric ton of wheat has been procured in the various grain markets/ mandis of the Jalandhar.He told that so far payment worth Rs 242.47 crore has been made to the farmers. 

Meanwhile, he also asked the officials to ensure the lifting of the wheat was being within 48 hours of its purchase during the ongoing Rabi procurement season.He said that the elaborate arrangements have been made in this regard to ensure that farmers do not face any sort of inconvenience.The Secretary Punjab Mandi Board also asked the procurement agencies to regularly monitor the procurement operations in the district for convenience of the farmers.He said that the availability of masks, water, soaps have been made in all the grain markets besides, the sanitization drive has already been carried out in the grain markets.Mr Bhagat also talked with farmers, labourers and commission agents in the markets and asked about any sort of problems being faced by them. He also appealed to the farmers' to bring moisture free grains to the market.On the occasion, SDM-II Mr Rahul Sindhu, District Mandi Officer Mr. Davinder Singh Kainth, District Food and Supply Controller Mr. Narinder Singh, Mr Kewal Singh and others were also present.
