GVK Thermal Power Plant At Goindwal Sahib To Be Operational By March 2013

The poll promise of SAD-BJP alliance government of making Punjab a power surplus state would be soon a reality as in a leap forward towards it the GVK Thermal Power Plant at Goindwal sahib would start operating by March 2013.

Disclosing this here today a spokesperson of the Chief Minister’s Office said that Mr. GVK. Reddy, Chairman-cum-Managing Director of GVK Power and Infrastructure Limited today called on Punjab Chief Minister Mr. Parkash Singh Badal and Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Sukhbir Singh Badal at their residence separately to apprise them about the status of the ongoing project. Mr Reddy informed the Chief Minister that ongoing work on the GVK Thermal Power Plant at Goindwal sahib would be completed in the stipulated time period and the plant would start generating power by March 2013.

Lauding the efforts of the SAD-BJP alliance government in making the state power surplus by creating a congenial atmosphere in the power sector, Mr Reddy also assured the Chief Minister that they would be expanding the existing capacity of the project for which a requisite extension in the MoU with the state government would be made soon.  Mr Reddy also apprised the Chief Minister about the problem faced by them for getting the Coal linkage for the proposed project from the Ministry of Coal, Government of India after which Mr Badal assured him that they would raise the matter with the Union government so that the extended project could be started in expedite manner. arlier in a separate meeting with the Deputy Chief Minister Mr Sukhbir Singh Badal, Mr Reddy informed him that the work on ongoing

project was in full swing and more than 60% of the work has already been completed. Mr GVK Reddy also said that they were honoured for being a part of the state government’s initiative to facilitate the residents of the state by ensuring regular power supply to them.

During the meeting Deputy Chief Minister Mr Sukhbir Singh Badal also appreciated the role GVK group in completing the project in a time bound manner. The Deputy Chief Minister said that after the starting of this project the power needs of the state would be fulfilled to a huge extent which would provide a fillip in accelerating the all round development of the state. He also assured Mr Reddy that state government would ensure full co-operation to them in completing this ambitious project at the earliest. Mr Reddy also congratulated both the leaders for their party’s historical win in the recently concluded assembly elections of the state.
