District Police launches 'Covid Commandos'

Would respond to persons and areas affected with Covid-19 within jurisdiction of District

In the wake of Covid-19 threat and to better align the systemic response to the newer and bigger challenges to public health and safety, SAS Nagar Police under the leadership of SSP Mr. Kuldeep Singh Chahal have launched “Covid Commandos”. The total strength of Covid Commandos is 19. These Covid Commandos are designated as District Covid-19 Emergency Response Team.They would respond to persons and areas affected with Covid-19 within the jurisdiction of S.A.S. Nagar District.The Covid Commandos are physically fit and self-motivated constables of S.A.S. Nagar Police who have themselves volunteered to take upon the onerous job of Covid-19 control in this moment of extreme exigency.They will be ready for deployment in a short span of 30 minutes within entire district.The deployment of Covid Commandos will safeguard rest of District Police from first hand dealing with Covid Positive cases and therefore, much reducing the chances of infection catching up with police personnel in the field.Covid Commandos are provided with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) with training on its proper wear, removal, and disposal. They are provided Go-Bags that include PPE for commandos and first aid supplies for response to community members. They are well trained and motivated to handle a non cooperative positive patient also using standard operating procedure.
